The month of December was full of, well, December 😏 Holidays always take up so much time. NOT a bad thing. But in regards to what I got done in the writing world… not much.
I would say my main focus was on getting through beta reader feedback. Having beta readers has definitely been wonderful. They have been helpful, insightful, funny, and encouraging!
Some funny comments:
- Ah! It’s the bad guy! I was all ready to sympathize with him…
- Gross. lol
- Ugh, creepy. This made me cringe (which is good, you are setting the tone you want.)
Some encouraging comments:
- Great, intense opening. You jump right into the action. That sets a good tone for this type of book.
- You have done an awesome job at building the story.
- Whoa. That was intense. I’m hooked!
I won’t share any comments where they’re telling me to change things 😉
My process consists of making the simple changes as I read through feedback, like a comma here or there. (Almost done with those!) When I run across something bigger, something that requires more thought, I make a note.
After I finish the simple changes, I will go back and think on the bigger ones. Once I have those figured out, I might send the “new” version of my manuscript to three other beta readers who have volunteered (and who spend their time in the same genre).
I also made a little bit of progress with my proposal and my lead magnet. A little progress is better than none, right? 😏
How do you find joy and encouragement when you feel behind? P.S. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
