After three key opportunities: (Which you can read about in my previous writing journey post, Critique and Pitch Appointments!)
- Getting to meet one-on-one with an editor from Tyndale House Publishers and receiving her very positive critique on my first ten pages,
- Meeting one-on-one with Donald Maass and having that go better than I ever imagined,
- Attending continuing sessions about The Emotional Craft of Fiction, presented by Donald Maass at the annual Realm Makers Conference,
I decided to make some changes before sending my full manuscript to Donald Maass.
A couple writer friends I meet with virtually most Tuesdays declared I should have the end of August as my deadline. So tentatively, I decided to use that timeline for reading straight through my manuscript, making tweaks and commenting on anything that I needed to potentially change.
And I made the deadline!! To celebrate, my hubby bought me two writer-themed shirts: 😊 “Dogs & Writing” and “Be courageous and try to write in a way that scares you a little.”
During my editing process, I highlighted some scenes and commented “boring!” For September, my goal is to delete, move up timeline, and add more suspenseful content to fill those boring sections. Wish me luck!
What’s a goal you’ve recently reached? What did you do to celebrate?
